Climate change has become one of the most significant environmental challenges affecting agriculture across the world. In Kerala, agriculture is highly dependent on seasonal rainfall, moderate temperatures, and healthy soil conditions. However, increasing temperatures, irregular monsoon patterns, floods, droughts, and the spread of pests have negatively affected crop production and farmers' livelihoods.
This study explains the major impacts of climate change on Kerala's agricultural sector, its causes, consequences, and possible solutions.
Climate change refers to the long-term alteration in the Earth's weather patterns caused by natural processes and human activities, especially the increase in greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO₂) and methane (CH₄).
